Georgia State Bmx Meeting @ State Qualifier #1; Albany

Officers in Attendance:

Shayne Robinson: Ga State Commissioner

Candy Gore-Maret: Ga State Treasurer

Carolyn Grant: Ga State Clerk of Course/Secretary

Before the meeting began, awards were handed out to those who went to the Presidents Cup at Christmas this past December.  Georgia came in 6th place and we were rewarded with a check of $700.00, it had been agreed upon by the track directors that any money won should be returned to the riders.  This amount came to about $23.00 per rider, so the state had gear bags order and had them custom embroidered with riders name and GA state Presidents Cup team.  The riders didnt know that they were getting them and this made for a nice surprise.

Meeting called to order at 2 :45  pm by Shayne

For the first State Qualifier of the year we have done well with 28 motos.  There were some weather concerns which may have kept some folks away.  Thank you to all who came and supported the State and Albany's track.

If you have any questions or concerns that involve STATE business, the agenda is posted 10 days before each state race.  If there are things you wish to have put onto the agenda, please contact Shayne with more than 10 days notice for it to be posted to the agenda.

Qualifications for the 2007 Georgia State Championship which will be held at Sandy Ridge Bmx Sept 22, 2007 are as follows:

You have to have raced in  3 of the 5 State Qualifiers.(Even if the Columbus track, Rivers BMX is up and going and we fit them in you will still only have to do 3  of the 5).

You have to have raced 8 local races, these can be at any or all of the tracks of your choice.  However, we will only be counting your 8 best locals and your 3 best State Qualifiers.

By getting qualified for the State Championship, and then racing in the State Championship, you will then have qualified for the Presidents Cup, which is held at Christmastime.  As of right now we do not know if the race will be going back to Ohio, or will be moved to Florida.  As soon as we know, we will pass on the info to you.

NEW BUSINESS:

We have a new track in the works and hopefully will be finished by end of May.  This track is RIVERS BMX, it is located in Columbus, GA.  It is close to Ft Benning  Army base.  This is a privately  owned track and will be operated by Aaron Oney.  Onsite already is a concession stand, bathrooms and a bike shop.  The extension for Rivers BMX on the hotline will be #105.  If the track is up and running we will possibly have a “Last Chance Qualifier” , but as we all know the weather in Ga can be fickle so do not plan on for sure having this race to fall back upon.

Speedway BMX in Griffin, still progressing and waiting for the gate to be finished.  HOWEVER, if the gate is not finished by July 14, we will still forge ahead.

The Georgia Games which is a part of the US Olympic Games will be having a Bmx race at Speedway if we have to do a one-footed start.  This in not an NBL event, it is for charity and medals will be awarded in Gold, Silver and Bronze.  Please plan to attend.

Meeting ajourned at @.2:50pm
