November 6th Meeting Agenda

* All of the following are just some ideas for the 2005 race season. Please read through the ideas and make any changes or additions you would like to see in the 05 season. You can email me your ideas at www.clonedbmx.com. Thanks in advance. *

2005 State Series:

  1. Points: All qualifiers will be ran with the same format as NBL nationals and regionals, which means three motos and a main. Points will reflect this change in the form of main points. All locals will only count the three motos, no bonus points for the mains.
  2. Times: All qualifiers will be ran as follows: Practice/registration: 12:00-2:00, Race: 3:00. Dates will be determined at the Jan/Feb state meeting. Two rain dates will also be determined.
  3. Qualifying: 2 qualifiers and 8 locals (I have heard this format from numerous people)
  4. Team Racing: Ran just like the Team NBL racing (refer to NBL rulebook)
  5. Championship: Will be ran two weeks after the NBL Grands
  6. Awards: Qualifiers will have track T-Shirts, Championship will have trophies, plaques, or cups and number plates.
  7. Registration: State qualifiers registration cost will be $20 pre, $35 post. With a $15 increase in post registration the vast majority of the racers will pre register and the state will have a good idea of how many awards to order.
  8. Jerseys: NO JERSEYS FOR THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Jerseys will be for the President’s Cup only. This eliminates the long break between the end of points and the Championship. This also eliminates the financial struggle the state has year after year.
  9. Track Compensation: The track hosting a state qualifier would receive a small percent of the qualifier’s registration.

2005 State Track Rules:

  1. Financial Statements: All tracks and the state will need to provide a monthly financial statement starting at the Jan/Feb meeting. This will be to perform a check and balance for the state and to eliminate all financial questions.
  2. By-Laws: All tracks and the state will provide By-Laws at the Jan/Feb meeting. The By-Laws will define the responsibilities of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and the Track Director (if applicable). This is to give your track and the state some leadership among a group rather than a few individuals.
  3. Monthly Meeting Minutes: All tracks and the state will have monthly meetings starting in Jan/Feb. The minutes will be available to everyone. This will allow struggling tracks to learn from other tracks that are prospering and for prospering tracks to help the struggling tracks. The idea is for lines of communication among tracks to be open and we build Georgia BMX as a whole.
  4. Local Racing: Tracks that are grouped together (McDonough/Peachtree City and Albany/Moultrie? And Augusta/new track?) only schedule a race one per weekend. For example: McDonough will race this Saturday then Peachtree will race next Saturday. The idea behind this is to hold less conflicting races and to have more racers at the races. This will build the number of racers per local as well as give your track’s volunteers more time to enjoy BMX with their kids. We are not Florida (yet), so the tracks that are close to one another need to grow together rather than compete against one another.
  5. Extras:
    1. Each track should have an extra event added to the schedule per race, ex: relay races, pit bike races, big wheel races, and boxer short races. Do something to get the whole family involved at the races.
    2. Each track should have two groups of volunteers. That way your volunteers do not need to be obligated at every race. And if at all possible, have your volunteers commit a month early at your monthly Parents Meetings. This way you know who maybe out of town or something and you can schedule for that race.
    3. Once a month, organize an after race picnic. This builds a larger volunteer base and camaraderie amongst racers and parents.
