President's Cup 2008 Report:

Lexington, Virginia set the scene for the 2008 Presidents’ Cup race. Georgia riders came out in full force to represent their state and wow did we do well. Out of the 22 States present we finished an incredible 5th place, winning $850. Our final team sheet boasted 7 first place finishes, 2 second place finishes and one 3rd place finish. Watch out Florida we are going for gold in 2009!!!

The weather was very kind to us all weekend, track had something for everyone, and the event went smoothly. Special thanx to our team captain Karen Allen and helpers Nicolle Beamon and Heather Dailey. Thanks a million ladies. Georgia totaled 49 riders with several of our riders racing open, and some racing both classes, we were 53 strong. Now only class racing counted for the final score, but it was great to see so many Georgia riders there. I have to say that our uniforms were outstanding and in the parade of states we stood out, green beanies and all!!!!

Our rookies represented well with Kris Watkins giving us a first, Spencer Snavely coming in from behind literally to take a 3rd place finish and the 80% taking home their “cereal bowl” trophy!!! Cruiser classes Georgia did very well, have to say that our girls rock. Shayne and Lauren took firsts, Kathy 3rd and Lori 4th. We did just as well with the men cruiser class with Anthony taking home the first in a nail biting finish with a Michigan rider ( way to go Ant!!!!), with Jeffrey a 4th and Sonny, Matthew and Thomas, in very tough classes representing Georgia, giving the opposition a good run for the money! Girls, girls, girls!! Georgia has a great bunch of girls this year. Mallory Fulcher came through with a 3rd, Kalee Reynolds, Cheyenne Grant, Sydney Shelton 4th and Kaylee Miller, Scout Ball, Alicia Allen all bringing home the trophy. Savannah Tweedell and Lauren Hines (yes she did double duty) fought hard in their motos and next year am sure they will their wins! Expert! Wow we had nail biting semis for them and with 8 going into the first turn it was anybodies’ guess who would come out first. The decision maker in the second straight saw a lot of action( some of it not intentional) as rides jousted for position. Keagan Bryson anchored our first places in this class, with Nathan, Ty, Travis, Kyle and Dylan and Steven all taking home trophies. Kaleb Giles, Owen Witcher, Drake Rogers, Dimitrie Dyke, Nicholas McCard and Vanden Dixon gave it their all in the motos and made Georgia proud. Let’s not forget the novices . Dakota Rutledge and Ezra Poole anchored this class with first place finishes, Austin Gates and Christopher Moore got very tight seconds (almost had them at the finish line!!!) and Ricky Dailey, Luke Doran Alec Rogers, Raymond Yoda, Thomas Gonzales, and Gavin Campbell all took home trophies. All our novices made their main events. Congratulations!!!

I have attached a list of our riders in case I forgot to mention anyone by name. Thank you all for making this a truly memorable event. Our State Season kicks off March 21st in Augusta. Florida had 214 riders this year, look what we did with 49 registered riders, imagine the possibilities for 2009 if we double our entry?!!! Let’s aim for the gold this year and take home that giant trophy!!
