President's Cup 2006 Report:

Congratulations Georgia BMXers for your 6th place finish, it was totally awesome!  You represented your State with pride and some fine racing skills,  and showed the other states that in 2007 we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Our team finished out the days racing with 205 points, the winning team of Ohio had 236 points. 17 of our 24 riders made their main event out of 207 motos. This was an incredible achievement considering the amount of 1/8s , 1/4s and semis they had to run to make their main.

The top ten States finished like this:
  1. Ohio
  2. Florida
  3. Indiana
  4. Michigan
  5. Tennessee
  6. Georgia
  7. North Carolina
  8. New York
  9. Pennsylvania
10. Puerto Rico

I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who made it possible for their sons and daughters to be there to race for their State. ( All the parents who raced as well as drove all the way, thank you ) Special mention, it was with enormous pride, that with the shortage of volunteers for the 4 days of racing, I saw how Georgia State parents stepped up and filled in just beautifully. I believe we should be called the volunteer State!!! Thanx parents and volunteers the NBL did notice and our state was admired on and off the track.

Team Captain for the day Karen Allen and assistant  Jennifer Scott did an awesome job of keeping up with our riders.  It was a tough job juggling moto sheets, riders, photo finishes, video protests and chasing down finishes. They still had a sense of humor at the end of the long day.  Heather Dailey was shanghaied day of to take as many pictures as possible of our riders and document the day. She certainly took this to heart, wore out one set of batteries on the camera and her work is on our web site. Thank you Heather.

All our riders, young and slightly “older”, put their hearts and soul into racing that day.  We saw first place finishes for  Ricky Maloy, Hayden McPeak, and Lauren Hines  followed by the 3 second place finishes of Nathan Grant, Cole Accord and the photo finish of Luke Doran filling out our top 6 spots. Third place finishes of Anthony and Shayne Robinson, Cole Accord ( cruiser) James Donnelly, Cheyenne Grant  would round out our choices for our best top 10 finish scores.  The total points per rider are calculated using your main finish points plus the bonus points for that class for your final points.  Obviously the more riders in your class  the more points and sometimes our 4th place finishers may score higher point value due to the bonus points.  Every rider in the main is a very valuable asset to the team outcome! We may be small in numbers but we are big on effort!  Congratulations to Ricky Maloy who joined the novice ranks day one of the national.

Next year our goal is to finish in the top 3. I believe it is possible!  Your Georgia State Team is looking forward to seeing you all racing this year. Don’t forget 3/5 State Qualifiers and 8 local races qualifies you for the State Championship and the opportunity to race for Georgia in 2007 Presidents Cup!

Below is the list of riders that raced for Georgia on December 27th, Columbus Ohio Presidents Cup.  Thank you all.
